Design thinking can be a powerful problem-solving tool but it can also be used to bring teams across a business together to create magic.

In this talk, Kimberly Hicks, a former VP at the Walt Disney Company, will share her experience using design thinking to bring together siloed teams to reimagine the Disney Channels app experience to create a product of immersion, interaction, and delight transforming the way users interact with the Disney Channels brand.

Kimberly will provide examples of how she and her team created a north star vision which resulted in a user experience that offers an immersive blend of technology, innovation, design, and enchantment.

Kimberly Hicks worked nearly 5 years at the Walt Disney Company where she was VP of Product, Games & Interactive for Disney Television’s Entertainment & Kids brands.

In her years at Disney she introduced Design Thinking into the organization. She has extensive experience on how product teams can leverage this creative problem-solving approach in their own work. The approach has change Disney at it’s core with a large inhouse team of UX designers.

She brings over 18 years of knowledge in product development with previous positions at Viacom and Turner Broadcasting. Kimberly is passionate about implementing design thinking processes to solve problems and grow creative teams as well as cultivating kids interested in STEM careers.

She was the initiator of Viacom’s partnership with Girls Who Code securing a long-term commitment to sponsor a Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program and a 4-year internship program for selected graduates of the summer program.
